Movie Description

Ash and his friends learn the legend of the Aura Guardian is true when Lucario is awakened. Unfortunately, this occurrence causes Pikachu to disappear. Ash and Lucario then set out on a journey to find Pikachu. This leads them to a mystical tree and the Mythical Pokémon, Mew.

Pokémon really went “Let’s make a movie to tease Gen 4’s Lucario involving a legendary that’s already had a movie instead of just making another episode. Also, let’s make the movie really good, add a bunch of worldbuilding like an ancient war and on top of that, Ash is confirmed to have magical powers now so we should use Lucario’s little gimmick to create a magic system that retroactively explains every weird thing Ash has ever done.”

Once upon a time…

Gonna end up exploring a bit of meau when she still trusted humans, nothing big, buts some build up that’s really helping me with my motivation and attachment to the story, so we’ll see a few one offs of it ;3

Also cuz I use mix of game and anime lore, Cameram takes place a lot further back in time than it does in the anime ^^

It makes me mad that there was an English release of Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, but I can't find a copy of it anywhere. What makes this even worse is that it was made by the same guy who created Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure!. It'd be cool to see him draw all of the characters from the anime in his unique style. Ihara is probably one of my favorite Pokémon manga artists alongside the original Pokémon Adventures artist, Mato.

At least Lucario and the Mystery of Mew is one of the manga based on a Pokémon movie that's out there. Some manga for movies like Pokémon 4ever and Pokémon The Movie 2000 are just lost media now. I'd hate to see the same fate happen to something as cool as this.

Personally, Lucario reminds me of Porthos. The strong leader who is focused on the task at hand. If Pokémon Black and White didn't have Pokémon who were based on the musketeers, I would've just made a Lucario character instead of a Cobalion one.

This was supposed to be a response to a blog post uploaded to a different blog. But you wouldn't know that if you didn't look at the tags on that specific post. This is the danger that comes with writing your thoughts out in the tag section of a blog post. (I'm glad I stopped doing that.)

Lucario's Character & Personality

Lucario is a Fighting/Steel-type Pokémon. Over one thousand years ago, he served Sir Aaron in a time before Poké Balls were invented. Lucario's master served Lady Rin, the Queen of Rota in Cameran Palace. While being trained to harness the power of aura in order to become an Aura Guardian, the Pokémon is quite naïve and clueless to the world. Despite this, Lucario is serious about training. He's quite loyal and respectful to his master, the Queen, as well as the kingdom he serves. Though Aaron, Lucario learns about friendship along with how to relax and enjoy life. When his master traps him in his staff to prevent his Pokémon from interfering with his plans, Lucario becomes hostile and cold, believing he's been betrayed. As a result, the ancient Pokémon has a negative outlook on life and is distrustful of others. Lucario also has no qualms with being physical towards those who disrespect him. Regardless, he's still quite helpful and willing to serve his previous monarchy's descendants. Beyond this, Lucario enjoys eating barriers and chocolate. In the end, he's remorseful and forgiving once he learns the truth. Quick to protect, Lucario selflessly sacrifices his life for his beloved home but is reunited with Aaron in the afterlife.

Just a random question but I noticed that you like a lot of underrated Pokémon like Swanna, Karrablast and especially Lumineon (people hate on that precious, beautiful fish WAY too much!) and you also sparked my love of Aegislash through your art so thank you for that

But sense you seem to love a lot of underrated Pokémon, I was wondering if tot had any guilty pleasure favs, like a Pokémon you know is overrated but you just can’t help but love them?

Mine has always been Lucario. I can’t help but love the sharp puppy 😭

I DID like Lucario very much as a kid and I still think it's a great design but I do find myself not caring as much about it anymore as I used to as a child 😅 I was SUPER hyped when I saw it for the first time in "Lucario and the mystery of Mew", I still remember watching the TV premiere of it

Otherwise I don't know if GARCHOMP counts as overrated but I found myself REALLY loving the big shark dragon when I raised an alpha specimen in Legends Arceus - before that I was actually pretty neutral on the dragon. I named him Archie and he became my ace and I love him very very much

He's the Garchomp from that ONE Legends Arceus Comic I posted a while ago 😂

One of the best Pokémon movies with one of the best Pokémon EVER!

I'm thinking about getting a DVD of this one. Part of me wants to get the first season of The Tom And Jerry Show or that Pokémon English-learning DVD program, though. I could buy it digitally and watch it on my PDA. But I need to build up a sizeable physical collection I can watch on my laptop or DVD players.
